To be there where you are needed – doctors of the UCU Medical Clinic provided medical support for the English Summer School of the Ukrainian Catholic University.
For two weeks, the team of the UCU Medical Clinic worked on site to provide the necessary round-the-clock medical support and assistance to the participants of the school: more than 150 first- and second-year students of various faculties, foreign volunteers, and teachers of the UCU Center for Modern Foreign Languages.
“During the summer school, we received more than 60 requests from participants. There were various complaints about their health; we were approached with signs of SARS, digestive disorders, viral infections, and pain. The most common cases were tick bites. We provided all patients with the necessary assistance, treated them and advised on further therapy, and made a route for visiting specialists at the hospital,” said Iryna Cherednichenko, a general practitioner and family doctor.
Thanks to the prompt work of the doctors, the students could focus on studying and communicating in English without worrying about their health.
“This year, there were many challenges and unforeseen situations, and the skilled and quick actions of the doctors of the UCU Medical Clinic provided timely assistance not only to students but also to teachers and foreign volunteer teachers. I would like to note that the doctors of the UCU Medical Clinic were also very eager to learn a foreign language and joined the classes together with the students. We would like to express our gratitude to doctors Iryna Cherednichenko, Victoria Andrusiak, and Maria Derzhypilska for their medical support, tireless work, and the warmth they shared with us during the Summer English School,” said Tetiana Basyuk, a teacher at the Centre for Modern Foreign Languages and academic director of the Summer English School.
During events, especially those involving a large number of people, there is always an increased risk of health deterioration for some of the participants. Therefore, medical support from qualified doctors is mandatory.
