The Medical Clinic of the Ukrainian Catholic University was awarded second place in the Charitable Lviv Region 2024 competition in the Healthcare Charity category.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition is organised by the Association of Philanthropists of Ukraine. The Association, with its regional partners, recognises the best charitable projects and initiatives in different regions. The awarding ceremony for the winners from the Lviv region took place on 3 July 2025 at the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after S. Krushelnytska.<\/p>\n

This year, diplomas of laureates and winners of the regional competition \u2018Charitable Lviv Region\u20142024\u2019 and the \u2018Angel of Goodness\u2019 award were presented in 7 nominations. In the Healthcare Charity category, the winner was the Lviv-based Unbroken Foundation, which helps wounded Ukrainian defenders recover from serious injuries and amputations. Second place went to the Medical Clinic of the Ukrainian Catholic University.<\/p>\n

“The UCU Medical Clinic won an award for the Veteran+ project, thanks to which more than 200 people received free medical services at our clinic, help from psychologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. The uniqueness of this programme is that it also covered family members of veterans, missing persons, and those in captivity. Our project is an expression of gratitude to those who protect us and their families, who also bear the heavy burden of war,” said Yelyzaveta Dotsenko, head of programmes and projects at the UCU Medical Clinic.<\/p>\n

The mission of the UCU Medical Clinic is to create qualitative changes in the health care system, to form a new human-centred culture of interaction with patients, and to serve the community, society, and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“In addition to direct medical programmes to support veterans, the clinic is also introducing new approaches in physical therapy and occupational therapy, and is willing to share its experience with colleagues from different parts of Ukraine. We develop and apply new policies for communication and interaction with patients, including veterans and the military. We believe that in times of war, we have to make changes for the better so that our defenders can return to a conscious society where human dignity is respected. That is why we still have a lot of work to do, but we are happy that today we are among those who set an example of service,” said Oksana Kovalska, director of the UCU Medical Clinic.<\/p>\n

“Goodness always responds to need. At the beginning of the full-scale war, there were 22,000 charitable foundations in Ukraine, and now we have 31,000 such organisations. Our task is to turn this spontaneous charity into a systemic one. The fact that we have been holding this competition for eighteen years is a systematic effort to make the culture of charity in our country strong and powerful,” said Oleksandr Maksymchuk, President of the Association of Philanthropists of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

The Charitable Ukraine competition has been held since 2007 and annually recognises the best charitable initiatives across the country. It is an annual initiative to recognise philanthropists, volunteers, public initiatives, and organisations that implement effective charitable projects. The contest promotes the development of a culture of charity, increases trust in public initiatives, and strengthens cooperation between benefactors and recipients of assistance.<\/p>\n

In 2024, dozens of organisations, volunteer associations, managers, and businesses that support Ukrainian society in times of war became winners.<\/p>\n
